A Rock & A Hard Place

I started this book this morning and finished it in one sitting. I’ve seen his other books before, and have heard good things about them, but for some reason I never took any interest in them, until now. I’m finding it difficult to describe how good this book is. I’ve read other books where a character was battling cancer, but it was always from another family members’ point of view. It was nice to get a glimpse into the mind of someone living with the disease, even if they are a fictional character, the story felt real. Reading this story, you get emotionally invested, connecting with every character. There were so many times I laughed out loud (and I was reading this in public, the people around me must have thought I was insane lol), and when the inevitable happened, it was hard to hold back my tears. This book definitely put me on an emotional roller coaster. And even though you know that all stories don’t have happy endings, you’re glad you read it. You’re glad you got to know these characters, and you learn a few things about life, love, and death. This book was funny and heartbreaking and a pleasure to read.
